I’m having issues with Yoast SEO and the Thirsty Affiliates plugin. More specifically, I have advanced Yoast SEO settings enabled, yet nowhere is there an option to disable indexing of my “thirsty affiliate” affiliate links.

I’ve read tutorials suggesting that Yoast SEO should automatically detect the presence of Thirsty Affiliates and provide an option under post types to “disable” indexing… yet nowhere is there this option for me. Any help would be appreciated – as right now all of my affiliate links are indexed in Google.

Hi,

Upon checking this article from the Thirsty Affiliates plugin, it states that the settings in Yoast will have no effect on your ThirstyAffiliates links as ThirstyAffiliates hooks in prior to any template code loading for its redirection.

You may want to remove the affiliates links from the sitemap — https://thirstyaffiliates.com/knowledgebase/how-to-remove-affiliate-links-from-sitemap-yoast-wordpress-seo

Josh here the founder of ThirstyAffiliates, just wanted to echo, Michael’s suggestion is the correct workaround.

However, in the version just released this week we make the post type non-public so hopefully it should be done automatically for you.

@mikes41720 – can you confirm that Yoast SEO would only pick up public post types for the XML sitemap and only loads the meta boxes if its public post type?

Hi @jkohlbach,

I can confirm that the XML sitemap and Yoast SEO meta box are only picking up public post types. There are no options under the Titles & Metas post type or the XML sitemap that detects the Affiliates post type, so I’m assuming this is due to your recent update that made it non-public. In @sofakingwinning’s case, this should be a non-issue now.
