Hello, Greetings.
Possible cause : update process was being interrupted
solution :
1) check Error Log; via FTP or Hosting control panel[File Manager].
It would give you Idea, what is preventing page load. You could share that log here to give us some insights to guide you further.
2) Do you have backup prior to update; to roll back? If yes. restore it.
We hope it isn’t too old.
assumption : you have access to backup.
2) re-name plugins folder; create new plugins folder; If site get becomes .. move plugins one by one to new plugins folder from renamed plugins folder.
Restoration of last working backup is still recommended solution.
Have a excellent day ahead
Thank you
Regards

When going to the site w/o the /wp, it throws a database error. So what, if anything, are you running on just the .com site? & if it’s a content management system like WordPress, did you install the /wp site into the same database?
Just trying to figure out the structure here.
Hi There,
The HTTP ERROR 500 is related to your server. You should first check the error log file on the server. It will give you the exact reason.
You can also try to create a new .htaccess file. Follow these steps.
– Rename your old .htaccess file.
– Goto your WordPress dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and click on save. This action will create a new .htaccess file. Now take a look at your website. If it doesn’t work then you should connect with your hosting provider.
Hope this helps.
Log into your FTP and look for a file named .maintenance
delete it.
The site should load as normal on the old version of WP from before the upgrade (in this case version 5.1).
