This Plugin Cleaned Up My Site(s)
-
I was having persistent problems with some malware that had infected my site. WordFence would detect the infected files, and I would have WordFence repair or delete the files, but the infection kept coming back. Not only did the infection affect my main site, but a couple of other sites that I was hosting under a couple of folders off the root. I was cleaning up files every couple of days for the past two months.
Fortunately, I happened upon this plugin, and the first scan I ran turned up a lot more infected files than WordFence did. It went through every single folder, even folders that weren’t part of WordPress.
Once all of the infected files were detected, I took a look at a few. This plugin (I would use the name, but it’s so long and cumbersome to type out) has a nice feature where it will display the infected file and highlight the questionable code. Once I had the plugin repair/quarantine the infected files, I haven’t had a recurrence of infections for the past week. Well worth the $29 I spent to be able to scan the WP core files and get the latest definitions.
I would say the only feature I would like to see is the ability to go back and look at the latest logs. I ran a second scan overnight, and I had to refresh the page the next morning, and somehow the refresh got rid of the logs so I couldn’t see them.
