It goes well along with any cache I think. I have tested it with WP-FFPC and WP Fastest cache in the past, but now I am just using native nginx cache which beats any plugins when it comes to performance.

I’ve use it with Comet Cache, WP Super Cache, KeyCDN Cache Enabler, Hyper Cache, … 🙂

Short answer: AO doesn’t do page caching, no.
Longer answer: AO does cache CSS & JS and will be fast if optimized CSS/ JS from cache can be used, but will cause a slowdown if the CSS/ JS does not exist in cache yet (see this blogpost for more info on how AO works)
