    Thanks for that information!

I just tested the connection to your site today and it seems everything is connected properly now. Where are you seeing this error and can you take a screenshot of the error? Once I have that information, I’ll be happy to take a closer look.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Oh – you’re seeing the error on WordPress.com, not your dashboard. The issue is that your hosting server is blocking API requests from the WordPress.com REST API, which is required to manage your site on WordPress.com.

You can check the error we’re receiving when we try to communicate with your site by checking this url:
    https://public-api.wordpress.com/rest/v1/sites/badmintonenzo.net

When your host has fixed the issue, that link will report something similar to this:
    https://public-api.wordpress.com/rest/v1/sites/ma.tt

I hope that clarifies things! Marking as resolved.

This is the answer I got.

    Geachte heer Berghuis,

    Hi there,

I have translated your host’s reply with Google translate: http://translate.google.com/

The installation you’ve done from our App Wizard is an installation from ww.wp.xz.cn. Here is also your domain name badmintonenzo.net linked. To edit this you must also log in through here. So you need to log in to your dashboard.
This works for us not through wordpress.com.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to address the issues my colleague Carolyn mentioned earlier.

Could you get back to them, and point them to this thread so they can understand the issue. They should be able to find out more about the issue by checking your site’s logs; they’ll find numerous 503 errors appearing whenever you try to use the WordPress.com interface to manage your self-hosted WordPress site, or when you call this URL:
    https://public-api.wordpress.com/rest/v1/sites/badmintonenzo.net

Once they make sure these requests aren’t blocked, everything should start working properly, including the URL above.

    I hope this helps.

I wil ask them so I’ve got to wait for their answer.

Thanks for forwarding us their reply.

I suspect that to attempt modifications to the MySQL database of your site via this API STRATO ( this is the case when you go to places for example, posts on your site through WordPres.com ) . If this is indeed the case , it is true that such requests are blocked . You only from your STRATO webspace access to your MySQL database. From a remote server not connected to a database can be made at STRATO ; Such requests are indeed blocked by us. This blockage can not be removed.

Jetpack and its API don’t have access to your MySQL database, and don’t need access. All interactions with your site are made through XML-RPC calls, using this file on your site:
    http://badmintonenzo.net/xmlrpc.php

Strato should see POST requests to that file in your site’s access logs each time you try to access your site from WordPress.com.

Could you ask them to check their logs, and see what’s blocking these requests? They might be using something like Mod_Security to restrict some of the requests to the xmlrpc.php file. If they do, it would be nice if they could allow requests coming from WordPress.com, to solve your problem as well as help everyone else using the Jetpack plugin on a site hosted with Strato.

Feel free to forward them a link to this thread, as well as a link to our contact form if they want to know more about the requests made through the Jetpack plugin. We’ll be happy to work with them to find a solution!

    Thanks!
