    Hallo,
    is it possible to create only thumbnails of photos and allow download directly from FTP?
    The reason is that importing a large amount of photos into WordPress risks a significant slowdown of the site.

    Having the large files does not risk slowing down your site. Only the images shown on the actual web page can cause a slowdown. The full resolution images are not loaded when viewing a gallery so they do not slow down the site. This is why Sunshine creates thumbnail images and allows you to set the number of thumbnail images per page load that you feel comfortable with.
