When I did an audit of my blog, one of the “errors” it tells me is the thumbnails of my “Recent posts” on the sidebar lack ALT tags. These images are the featured images of each posts and are automatically resized to thumbnails by the “Recent Posts Widget With Thumbnails” plugin. The featured images of the posts have ALT tags. Just the thumbnails don’t. How can I make the plugin to use the same ALT tags of the featured images when creating the thumbnails?

Is the checkbox ‘Omit alternative texts of the thumbnails?’ activated? By the way: There is no ALT tag, but there is the alt attribute of an IMG tag.

Since the widget lists an image and the respective title together in a single link, the alt text of the image can be set to empty to avoid confusion for users using assistive technologies. More information on H2: Combining adjacent image and text links for the same resource.

For that there is the checkbox ‘Omit alternative texts of the thumbnails?’.
