TikTok embed not working

I’ve tried various ways of embedding a TikTok video in a post, and I keep getting an “Unable to embed media” box.

I’m running WordPress 6.2.2 running Twenty Twenty-Two theme. Block Editor enabled.

I think it’s supposed to embed if you just put the URL on its own line? It tries, and fails.

If I use an Embed block, it tries and fails.

If I specifically select a TikTok block, it tries and fails.

If I insert a Video block instead, I get a landscape-format video box but no video.

I tried with a couple of other random public TikTok videos, and it doesn’t work with them either. I also tried on one of my other sites, with the exact same result.

Am I missing something, or is TikTok embedding just broken?

Edited to add: I’ve uploaded it to Instagram now and that works fine, but my question still stands!
