Tiled Galleries Thumbnail Cropping?

    I really love the sleek look of the Tiled Galleries, but I am a bit frustrated that I cannot figure out how to control the cropping and positioning of the thumbnails — they’re just automatically set to the center of the image, which sometimes looks okay and sometimes looks awful, depending on the image in question.

    I’ve tried out various plugins, such as Post Thumbnail Editor and Crop Thumbnails, that let you customize the thumbnails for each individual image, but these plugins do not seem to be compatible with Tiled Galleries. The customized thumbnails only appear if I turn off Tiled Galleries and revert to wp’s ugly default gallery.

    I think it’s a shame, because Tiled Galleries looks so good, but will ultimately be of little use to me if I cannot have control over the thumbnails. Is there something I’m missing? Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Jetpack doesn’t offer such option I’m afraid. All images are automatically resized via Photon, so you won’t be able to use another plugin to edit or customize the thumbnails.

    You shouldn’t have to worry about cropping though: Tiled Galleries only resize your images, but don’t crop them.
    If you want to crop your images, I’m afraid you’ll have to go back to the default gallery thumbnail grid. You could use the size parameter to display larger images; it often looks better than the default thumbnails in my opinion.

    Jeremy, the gallery does in fact crop the images, when selecting either tiled mosaic or square tiles. In the page editor where you create the gallery, it doesn’t crop the images, but then when publishing the page and viewing in the browser, the images are cropped.

    Is there anyway to not crop the images? Or to at least select how the images are cropped? All the people in my photos have their heads chopped off at the moment !

    @leojksa Jetpack’s Tiled Galleries should not crop your images. If they do, could you please start your own thread, as per the Forum Welcome?
