Time formatting

I am displaying Simple Calendar in the list format in a sidebar widget. Each day has a header with the Month date, year format. Then for each event under that date, the event name is shown, and then also the date and time. Showing the date again is redundant. I’d like to just show the event name and time. I tried leaving the date formatting blank in PHP format – doesn’t work. It reverts to the default date format.

Any ideas? Do I need to upgrade to the pro version to be able to do this?
