• This is simply a request for some Core Developer Advice…Not a complaint:

I really like the WYSIWYG editor and sometimes would like to add extra buttons added to TinyMCE. The problem (and maybe others won’t share my point of view) is that when I review several available plugins, they end up offering everything but the kitchen sink (overkill). Currently I have this plugin installed: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/tinymce-unrestrictor/screenshots which works fine; but now I want to substitures Buttons instead of clickable links.

Here are two plugins I found in the Plugin Directory: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/tinymce-advanced/
    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wp-edit/
BUT they also seem to be Overkill.

Can the Core Developers revisit the TinyMCE Default Component, and possibly add some additional buttons without the necessity of plugins and overkill?

Maybe this is what I’m looking for and its components seem to be leaner: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/buttons-shortcode-and-widget/.

As Microsoft and WordPress continue to move towards Mobile First Design, and touchscreens take over more Mobile devices (including laptops), I would think that simple Buttons Creation integration into the TinyMCE editor would become more useful for a larger number of WordPress end users, than going through the efforts of sifting through the Plugins Directory.

    Just a thought…
