HI Guys
Just noticed I get this text on the 403 forbiden page as well
mvt.org.uk/wp-admin/admin.php?page=nggallery-manage-gallery&mode=edit&gid=1&paged=1 (port 443)
Anyone know what it means ???????
Hello @hitman365,
Let’s check if it is an existing conflict:
– Temporarily deactivate all your plugins except NextGen Gallery.
– Is the problem solved? Then, it was caused by one of your plugins. Please check one by one and find the one causing the problem.
– If the problem is not solved with the deactivation of the plugins, try changing to a standard WordPress theme, it could be a conflict with your current theme.
Please, keep us posted. We are happy to help!
HI gabyimagely
Thanks for the help I tried deactivating all my plugins to no effect and changed the theme as well but the problem persists.
I read somewhere on the internet it could be a corrupt file access setting, read it through but still don’t understand how to try and fix it ?????????
Hi @hitman365,
Can you please make sure that you aren’t using single quotation marks or any other special NON-ASCII characters for your images’ captions?
HI mihai-imagely
No not using any special characters only plain text.
I am sorry for insisting. Can you please make sure that you aren’t using any single quotation character for any of the image’s titles of that gallery ( not for the one that you are trying to modify only ).
Also, can you please let us know if you are being allowed to do any modifications for any different image of the same gallery?
Hi Mihai-imagely,
I too had the Error 403 when trying modify titles in my galleries when trying to save the changes.
In Manage Galleries, I browsed the the one I was working on and found words like: St. Mary’s; d’Avignon; etc. I removed the apostrophes (single quote) from each in the first page and it saved for me. I carried on with page 2 of the same gallery with the same result. This also fixed the Error 403 when trying to re-sort the galleries.
You CANNOT USE ANY APOSTROPHES in your titles. Delete them!! If there is ONE ANYWHERE in the gallery page you are editing, you will get the dreaded Error 403.
I am wondering if there is any way of escaping them into the text or a substitute character? The French place names look bad without the apostrophe.
Cheers,
Bernie

This should be corrected by NextGen ASAP. Of course we are going to want to add apostrophes to titles. Its so limiting and grammatically incorrect otherwise.
