Sorry, no. Removing jQuery caused a lot of problems. And this is not just a simple “toggle” – I had to rewrite the whole frontend script:

Eventhough it worked on my own websites (https://arnowelzel.de and the official demo platform https://wordpress-demo.arnowelzel.de) other people reported a number of problems. For example see https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/plugin-stopped-working-after-update-22/. But I also got e-mails reporting other things which didn’t work any longer after I replaced jQuery calls by pure JavaScript.
However, any pull request which removes jQuery in a reliable way, tested with all major themes and plugins is welcome.
I created a new beta version without jQuery.
Since the last time this didn’t work very well for some people I’d like to invite you as beta tester before releasing another update.

After some thorough testing (thanks again to all beta testers for their help!) I can announce the official release of a version which does not need jQuery any longer. You will also find another goody in this release – a meta box in the post editor where you can disable the lightbox for that single post.
