I have a blog where I have over 570 posts. It’s a weather diary and I’ve been keeping it a few years, so there’s naturally many posts.
Lately I’ve noticed that if I try to access the earliest days/months, the first ones that I’ve written, the site can’t handle it. It just loads and loads and eventually loads an empty page. No error message though.
This is regardless of the theme.
Although whichever theme I choose, when I try to customize it, the same lagging happens.
Is there somewhere I box I should tick so that even the oldest articles are accessible or is it just too much for the system to handle?
    Otherwise the site works okay.

570 posts is not at all extreme.

There are so many reasons that the site could struggle and you should consider things like:

    – are you caching?

    – have you tried optimising the MySQL database?

    – have you tried deactivating plugins to see if any are causing this?

    – have you switched on php debugging to check for errors?

    – have you tested the page loading times?

    – is your hosting company rubbish?

Haa, so I have to start DOING something to this problem 😉
The only thing I can say for sure is that my hosting company is okay. So I have to start problem solving those other issues. Thanks!
