Top Level Menu Item speed

Hello, I am having trouble figuring out how to change the speed of hover of the top level menu items. I will roll my mouse over the first of 5 top level navigation items and then the 2nd and 3rd and there is a lag between them. I have selevted no animation and do still have a drop down. The drop down potion shows up quickly but the move from the top level items is slow. Thanks
