The most likely issue is that one of the two service APIs were down when the request was made for the count, so it was set to zero. It should go back to normal the next time the counts update. You can force refresh the counts by clicking the admin bar link or the button in the metabox.

Hi Bill, unfortunately the problem was never resolved 🙁 so I lost thousands of likes. I know the plugin is not the issue because I’ve replicated the same issue with other similar plugins. I believe it’s due to me changing the hyperlink in the past not knowing that it’s actually really bad practice for wordpress. I guess there is nothing I can do to get the counts back? I have already started using a redirection plugin but the numbers are still down.
When editing the post, look in the right column for the Shared Counts metabox. It lets you specify an additional URL to include. When retrieving counts for this post, it will look for the counts on both URLs and combine them.
