Trackbacks not working – 1.5.1

    My trackbacks still aren’t working with the upgraded 1.5.1.

    I tried testing at Pingomation, and received the following:
    RedAlt has no record of pingbacks or trackbacks from sites beginning with the submitted string.
    Be sure that your URL begins with “http://�.

    Trackback sent to specified page.
    Response:
    Could not discover pingback URL

    Did anyone find the solution to the problem that they could share with me? Thanks!!

    I had a problem with trackbacks and pingbacks, and it was fixed when I turned off customized permalinks, it might be worth trying for you. Apparently, there are other issues. There are more details about some of them here.

    I highly recommend using the wp_remote_fopen patch from the URL that klklaser has supplied.

    Thanks for the link.
    I’ll admit my stupidity right now: Not sure how to use those files. Are they php pages? Do I upload them into a folder? Or replace some code? If so, on which page?

    Hmm, could it be that trackbacks display the wrong text? I.e., display some text of an entry adjacent to the one the trackback text actually should be from?

    @tjaard – thanks for the suggestion, but they actually aren’t working at all. I’m going to try the patch from Mosquito as soon as I figure out how! 🙂

    @eveums: Lines with a “-” in front of them are to be deleted, and lines with a “+” in front of them are to be added. It was new to me, but it’s not too difficult. Good luck!

    To easily fix your trackback problems, use revision 2606 of functions.php: http://trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/file/trunk/wp-includes/functions.php?rev=2606 and revision 2606 of xmlrpc.php: http://trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/file/trunk/xmlrpc.php?rev=2606
