I have the problem that since August 12, the visitor statistics of the site have no longer been tracked. The version at that time was 14.15.1, and I only updated it to the latest version this morning, hoping that the error would be fixed. However, that was not the case.

The current situation is that I have to deactivate my caching plugins (WP Super Cache, Autoptimize, and ACPu Manager) in order for the tracking to work again.
I tried to figure out which of the three plugins is causing the issue, but I couldn’t determine it during testing, as it seems random when it works and when it doesn’t.
I also updated the Borlabs Cookie plugin from V2 to V3.3.15.1, but that didn’t have any effect either.

Does anyone have an idea how I can get the tracking to work again with my caching plugins?

    Thanks and kind regards
    Nils

  • Hello Nils,

You are correct that for WP Statistics to function properly, the following file must not be cached:
    /wp-content/plugins/wp-statistics/assets/js/tracker.js

Regarding WP Super Cache, it is not causing the issue, as this plugin does not cache JS files.
The problem is likely related to your other caching plugins.

Most caching plugins offer a way to exclude specific files.
For example, in Autoptimize, you can go to:
Settings > Autooptimize > JS, CSS, HTML > Exclude scripts from Autoptimize
    and add /wp-content/plugins/wp-statistics/assets/js/tracker.js there.

This guide provides detailed instructions that may help:

    Hello Mehmet,

In Autoptimize I had already excluded /wp-content/plugins/wp-statistics/assets/js/tracker.js.

My problem seemed to be only with WP Super Cache, since you can’t exclude tracker.js there.

But now suddenly the tracking works again with all caching plugins… I don’t know what the reason for that was.

For now, I’ll wait a while and see if the numbers go up again and reach the previous level, since they had always been consistent.

Thanks a lot for your efforts, Mehmet!

    Best regards,
    Nils
