What is exact link where you have only access to readme file? I checked translation for French, Sable release and all the strings are available here:

The link you are quoting only proposes the translation of the readme (stable-readme) file. I want to translate the words used for the front end of the plugin.

I’m very sorry! You are right, I’ve send message to developer about that issue. At the moment you should be able to use PoEdit editor https://poedit.net/ and translate it to French on your computer (you will find pot file in courspress/languages directory).

There is 3 pot files: courspress/language/cp.po, courspress/2.0/languages/cp.po and courspress/2.0/languages/courspressp.po in the plugin folder. What is the right one ?

Trust all is well!
The cp.pot in courspress/2.0/languages/ is the file that you can translate.
Please name the files as cp-fr_FR.mo and cp-fr_FR.po and uploas these files to this path:
wp-content/languages/plugins/
