Translator Role

This line of code must run to add the “read” permission to the “translator” role, if that’s what’s broken.

When does init() get fired?

When any Loco admin screen is rendered.

When I log in as a translator I cannot access /wp-admin

The plugin won’t run if you’re locked out of it.

Log in as a privileged user that can see Loco admin screens. Then the translator permissions should repair themselves.

I think the easiest thing would be to fix the permissions with one line chucked into some part of your system. This should do it:

get_role('translator')->add_cap('read');

It only needs to run once, then you can remove it.

Previously broken permissions won’t be fixed if the logged in user can’t execute the plugin.

Log in as a privileged user, and enter the Loco Translate settings page that shows the translator role tick box. This is enough to run the code that patches the missing “read” capability.
