I just installed this plugin, so maybe I simply don’t understand how it works yet?

But I created an event that triggers when a user replies to a topic in bbPress. I went to my site to test it out, replied to a topic, and then it took 15 seconds to trigger after the page finished loading. I tested it three times, and had the same result each time. The myCred points triggered immediately after the page had loaded, and I’d like the achievement to trigger along with it. 15 seconds is just a really long time to sit around.

Also, is it possible to get an achievement to trigger when a user up/downvotes using the bbPress Post Ratings plugin?

    Hi alleycakes,

    Thanks for your feedback.

    bbPress Post Ratings plugin

This plugin isn’t supported in Achievements, but I might consider adding support for it in the future. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thank you also for your feedback about 15 seconds being too long. It was a hard thing to figure out what a good time period would be while building it, and yours is the first feedback I’ve seen about the timer.

I’m waiting on WordPress 3.8 (https://core.trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/ticket/25073) to be able to improve this elegantly, but before Christmas, I will try to spend some time to see if I can hack some sort of solution together. I’ll update here when I have an update 🙂

That would be amazing! Yeah I think up to 5 seconds after page load would be best for the site I’m running. Thanks for looking into this. 🙂

Good news is that WordPress added the code that I need. As WordPress 3.8 (the next version) is due on December 12th, at the moment I am very likely to wait for that new WordPress release so I can easily make the update checks occur more quickly.

It would be really nice to customize the timer. Where is the location of this code for the time being?

Deep inside WordPress itself, and I’m not saying where exactly because if you read the code and find out how the live notifications work, it’s fairly obvious, and hacking core isn’t a great idea.

In a week or so when WordPress 3.8 is out, I’ll be putting out a release of Achievements that makes it much faster/instant.

I’ve just released a new version of Achievements for WordPress. This should happen much quicker now.

I won’t have a chance to try it out until after Christmas, but thank you for staying on top of this! Really looking forward to working with it.
