Trouble adding New Plugins

    I made some recent changes after installing the WP_Download Manager and now whenever I try to insall any other plugin I get this error:

    “Unable to create directory /uploads/2009/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

    No one has changed anything with the hosting and so the root directory should be writable.

    How do I check and fix this.

    btw – WP is awesome! I am learning so much,picked up HTML and Javascript, now I head onto php!
