and they refer me to WordPress.com
You are not at WordPress.COM forum.
This forum belongs to ww.wp.xz.cn
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and ww.wp.xz.cn are two different entities: https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/WordPress_vs_WordPress.com
WordPress.com has complete documentation and support contacts at https://support.wordpress.com/
wondering if I install Jetpack separately if it WooCommerce will use that
I recommend asking at https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/woocommerce so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.
@altheaday Are you on a WordPress.com account, or do you have hosting elsewhere? If you have a paid WordPress.com account, you can get assistance through your account.
If you aren’t on WordPress.com account, then Jetpack is suggested, but is not needed in order to operate your store with WooCommerce. It sounds like this is more likely the case.
In reference to Stripe, you will need a payment gateway in order to process transactions. Since it seems you already have a PayPal account, you can just use the built in PayPal option that comes with WooCommerce. It can be enabled under WooCommerce > Settings > Payments. Documentation on setting this up is here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/paypal-standard/
Hi Jesse,
I have a WordPress.com account, but my site is on ww.wp.xz.cn. I am unable to use PayPal as they have changed their policies to require a high payment to my host to upgrade my site to their standards. What I need is an open source or free gateway. Any suggestions? I do have Jetpack already installed.

Hi there,
We have quite a few payment gateway options on our site here:
https://woocommerce.com/product-category/woocommerce-extensions/payment-gateways/
Several of these are free plugins ( such as Stripe and Square) but all payment gateways will have a cost for the use of their service.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
