• I went to add a photo to my website today, and realized it was all messed up. No formatting, etc. I know that Virtue had some updates available, but I hadn’t had a chance to make a child theme first, as it says that customizations would be lost. I figured it would stay the same until I updated.

I am pretty sure I was using Virtue 1.5.6 (I installed it about 5 weeks ago). Today, I noticed that I somehow was running 1.7 (can’t remember exactly), which I don’t think I installed (is there some sort of auto-update?). I assume however that happened, my customizations were lost. I followed the instructions here: http://www.kadencethemes.com/updating-virtue-with-new-options-panel/

Now, some stuff is back (like my CSS), but the fonts don’t look right, the photos I had on pages don’t flow like they used to, and when I click on a thumbnail, I get two lightbox viewers that open on top of each other (the plugin I installed, and something else that’s slightly different).

Can you please help me get it back to normal?
I have updated to WP 3.8
    I updated Virtue to 1.8.4
I did the cut/paste import for settings as I linked to above.
I cleared my browser cache (Firefox)
Plugins: Simple Lightbox 2.2.0, Virtue ToolKit 1.0, and UpdraftPlus-Backup/Restore.

Can I somehow use my backup to get things fixed?

    Thanks
    Mike

  • Hey,
Virtue doesn’t auto update so that would be server related.

You would need to edit the theme to remove the lightbox so you are better off disabling your simple lightbox plugin as its conflicting or you can remove the light box init from the main.js file.

As for your photos on pages they are all alignnone? If you want them to be floating use a wp gallery like here: http://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue/wordpress-gallery/

Or align your images left so they float.

Fonts? with the new theme options you now have more control over your fonts… what seems to be wrong with them?

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Re: the updating – I don’t know what happened, but I will ask my host and I’ll probably make a child theme to prevent it in the future.

Re: the lightbox – I’m trying to understand what changed to make it have the double lightbox. It was working with the plugin before, without the default lightbox showing up too. I don’t recall changing the main.js file before. In the meantime, I have deactivated the plugin so at least there is only one lightbox showing up.

Re: floating photos – again, they were working fine before, so I don’t understand what changed. I will look at that wp gallery, but if I recall, I looked at it before and something about it didn’t do what I wanted last time I looked. I’ll also try align left to see if that solves it.

Re: fonts – I think right when you posted your reply, I was messing with the fonts. I changed them to something else, then changed them back, and now they work for some reason. So you may have been seeing them after that.

I’m sure I can eventually get things looking the way I want them, but I’m most confused about how things could change just from the theme update, since they worked before.

I’ll post when I have some time to work on these things. With the holidays, it may be awhile. I appreciate your response during this busy time.

    Best regards,
    Mike

Well, I can tell you that the lightbox changed from pretty photo to magnific-popup and that might be why it worked before.

The other thing is many many things internally changed with those versions. With the new theme options there were different databases that had to be updated and it’s possible that that was the reason.
