I posted in another thread about this, but I have new information and this issue was mixed in with another issue. I never got a resolution on this, other than a suggestion that I was trying to load too many images.

I am using the following shortcode on my main page:

    `[ngg src=”random” display=”basic_slideshow” gallery_ids=”1,2″ maximum_entity_count=”25″]

On initial page load or refresh I get 2 images instead of 1 until the Nextgen slideshow individual image timeout is reached…then it reverts back to showing 1 image as it’s supposed to.

Brand new install of WP 4.9.8, brand new database. No other plugins loaded. Theme Twenty Ten. Static page set as home page. Two galleries created, one with 6 images and the other about 60. Absolutely nothing else changed…this is about as vanilla as you can get! Same result with IE and Firefox. Have not tried any other browser.
