Troubleshooting disappearing attributes

    We have only one attribute for our site: “Select Color”, which has 36 terms attached to it. Today this attribute, along with all related product variations disappeared. No plugins were updated or added prior to this happening. They were there and then they were gone.

    Following earlier reports of solutions for this problem, I added this attribute back in Products > Attributes and all of the terms reappeared, along with the product variations. Note that we are using Variation Swatches for WooCommerce to add images to the terms.

    This is disconcerting to say the least. Is there any known cause for this problem, which I see has come up repeatedly over the years. We want to take whatever steps are needed to prevent a re-occurrence.

    Hey @gregf – Sorry for such a delayed response and for any frustration this issue has caused you. 🙁

    So far, we haven’t been able to reproduce this issue in any of our tests and it only seems to affect a small number of people (usually either running multisites or having issues with the javascript code that loads the variations via ajax). If it does happen again in the future, let us know what steps we can take to try and reproduce it on our end so we can hopefully pinpoint the exact cause.
