Trying to update wordpress

    I’m a complete newb when it comes to website building. I tried to update my wordpress to 4.1.1 but I got this message “The file ‘wp-config.php’ already exists. If you need to reset any of the configuration items in this file, please delete it first. You may try installing now.” I am a deer in headlights and have no idea what to do. my entire site is down now and I’m freaking out, help!

    What method are you using to update WP? Normally wp-config should not be replaced. And what version of WP is currently installed?
