We have a number of Courses on our site, some free and some payed. To control access we use the ‘Front End Login’ plugin to utilise the ‘Manual User Verification’ feature. In the past this has worked well by using the ‘Verify User’ tick box under the Users Profile page. Although now we’ve noticed that some users are ‘Auto Verified’. How/where do we stop this from happening?

    Hi @crundi,

The only reason why a user would be auto verified is when they have the user capability of activating plugins, which is usually something only Administrators can do.

Could you check and let me know what the User Role is for the auto-verified users?

    Thanks for the quick reply.

All User roles are ‘Customers’. To check permissions, I just signed into WP as a test ‘Customer’ and was restricted from accessing the WP Plugins page.

    Hi @crundi,

Could you also confirm that these users were created after the plugin was activated and not before? Users created before the activation would also be auto verified, by default.

If so, could you look for and share your server’s PHP error log or the WordPress debug.log? If you’re not sure where to find it, kindly contact your hosting provider. This would help us rule out any error or conflicts in the background.

Appears to be fixed now. I think it was due to a third party plugin ‘Switch User’. With that gone, it now seems to function correctly.

    thanks for all your help.
