So my theme apparently does not support your sidebars and I don’t use sidebars at all on the site I am building. Is it possible to just turn them off entirely? I have an image as a background on my site and the main content area is centered in the middle of the screen. Lifter is apparently ignoring the theme in regards to the settings as everything is offset to the left. The free version looks great, but I really don’t want to go through the hassles to set up the sidebars as I am concerned that it will “wreck” the rest of the site I am building.

Thank you for the help, the plugin looks great otherwise.

  • Hello @meijin2k,

Sahifa theme was made for magazines and newsportals I guess. So, in my personal opinion, it would not be a good choice for you.

I would suggest making a separate installation on a folder or sub domain to keep everything nice and tidy. You can also design all the course related things independently and save yourself from getting frustrated with design and issues 🙂

Sahifa has the ability to use sidebars and has a regular blog style format. I just don’t use it.

So sidebars are a requirement for Lifter? The only way to use it is via a sub-domain? That’s not a very desirable option considering the additional work and maintenance.

I am not sure about the Sahifa themes capability as I have used it back in 2013. If it has a post type based sidebar configuration, you may try that. I am not sure about the sidebar requirement. Please wait for the official teams reply 🙂

    Hi @meijin2k

No, sidebars are not a requirement at all! You’re good to leave them off.

Unfortunately, we’re not familiar with this theme. However, most themes usually have an option to go in and disable sidebars for custom post types if you head into Appearance->Customize->Layouts. Sometimes it may be under General Settings->Layouts as well.

If you do not see any options for disabling the sidebar, you’ll want to reach out to the theme developers as they’ll be the real authority on how to handle hiding sidebars on custom post types.

Additionally, if you’re using a child theme you can always just remove the call to the sidebar completely in the call <?php get_sidebar(); ?> from each of the page templates. There’s also always the option of adding some CSS to set the content width to 100%.

Please let us know if you have any further questions!

    All the best,

Since I haven’t heard back from you in a week I’m going to mark this thread as resolved. Don’t worry, if you have more questions or still need help just hit reply and let me know!

    Have a great day!

Sorry to open this back up and I do appreciate the earlier help.

Would you folks be able to point me in the right direction as to the CSS code to use not having the side bars? It would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.
