Twitter widget not saving

The Twitter widget I’ve always used on my page is no longer working, I believe it’s the default one WordPress supplies. It allows me to move it to the sidebar area and enter configuration information, but when I click ‘Save,’ the button clicks but it doesn’t actually save and won’t embed on the page. Then, if I don’t delete the widget from the sidebar, when I try to reload or navigate away, it asks if I’m sure I want to do that because I have unsaved changes. I believe my php is 5.4(?).
