Do you mean a different calendar plugin? I coded this plugin to avoid conflicts but I don’t know for sure until you try.
Note that you could have two different calendars derived from the spiffy calendar plugin by filtering the calendar display by category.

Thanks; I was thinking of testing yours without abandoning the one I have (All in One Event Calendar).
By the way, can an event have more than one category?
Or can I add tags to each event to enable searching?

One category per event, no tags.
