    Hi

I have the plugin perfect brands, the free version so no support. And I dont know if my issue is related to that plugin anyway.

Under Product in the left menu I can see “Brand” showing up twice for some reason, the first one have the url /edit-tags.php?taxonomy=pwb-brand&post_type=product and the second one edit-tags.php?taxonomy=product_brand&post_type=product

I can see that the top one /edit-tags.php?taxonomy=pwb-brand&post_type=product have the most updated brands in them and this is also the page I get sent to if I click “Edit brands” from Woocommerce settings -> Brands -> Edit brands

If I go to edit a product I also see two brand lists both named Brand in the right column were product photos etc is. Only in one of these is the brand checked. If I check brand A in one of the list and Brand B in the other and go to that page as a user then I see both these brand names.

So if I just use one of these lists all is fine, and if I know the correct one to use and update all is fine I guess.

But at some point in time, some update, something happened so I got two of them. And it was probably many months ago since I can see by comparing brands in one list and the other.

Any tips or pointers would help me out so much. Im not so savvy when it comes to these things.

  • Hi @linusl,

Thank you for reaching out. For assistance, please use the plugin’s support forum here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/brands-for-woocommerce/, if that’s the plugin you have installed. Alternatively, you can go to the plugin’s page on ww.wp.xz.cn and click on the Support tab.

Kindly note that this forum is dedicated to support for WooCommerce core only.

Well @mosesmedh . As I mentioned in my first post, Im not really sure this is at all related to that plugin. Actually I think it is not that plugins fault.

    If I read this https://woocommerce.com/document/managing-product-taxonomies/product-brands/
it gives me hints that this is an out of the box thing (not default but core) from woocommerce or has been since the information on this page “As an example, [product_brand] shows a brand’s image on the single product page.”

So Im just thinking perhaps this extra brand option I have is related to some out of the box support or introduced its own taxonomi for brands?

    I have two separate brand-taxonomies:
pwb-brand (the plugin Im using) /edit-tags.php?taxonomy=pwb-brand&post_type=product
    ⚠️ product_brand (old/rest/ghost) edit-tags.php?taxonomy=product_brand&post_type=product

    Hi @linusl,

It looks like you have two brand taxonomies: one from the Perfect Brands plugin (pwb-brand) and the other from WooCommerce (product_brand). Unless you’re specifically looking to use the features from the Perfect Brands plugin, I would recommend sticking with the default WooCommerce brand taxonomy (product_brand) to avoid confusion. This will simplify your product management process.

If you do want to continue using the plugin’s brand taxonomy, just ensure you’re consistently using the correct one for all your product assignments.

Is this support from Woocommerce a “new” thing? I cant find the answer to that question. The only reason I installed perfect brands was because this was not a out of the box thing when I installed woo the first time about 2 years ago. Also confused how 90% of the adds I added to perfect brands actually have been migrated to the woocommerce brand setup. That is also very odd. Searching some more looks like this became out of the box support on jan 2025 in woo, so very recently.

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

You’re absolutely right — Brands support in WooCommerce is a relatively new addition to the core plugin. Starting with WooCommerce 9.4, released on October 21, 2024, all the functionality that was previously part of the premium WooCommerce Brands extension is now included for free, out of the box.

This update was part of a larger effort to make essential ecommerce features more accessible without the need for additional plugins. You can read our announcement here:
    https://developer.woocommerce.com/2024/10/01/introducing-brands/

    I hope this helps.
