Two domains different server single database, same content. – how to ?

hi,

i have a hobby site says hobby1.com with 10k+ posts and i have few more domains, so i want to start identical sites with these new domains,

but i want to use single database of hobby1.com and wanna share content of it like categories, posts, coz 1st site gets posts from remote publishing and i wanted to start the identical sites same as hobby1.com but with different theme and some different plugin.

is it possible to do so ?

i read about multiple domains single database by changing database prefix,

but i just dont want single database i want to use all the content of 1st blog/hobby1.com site.

please guide me in some direction.

I wanna do this , coz its very hectic and time consuming for me to backup a database and all files and host everything on new server with new domain.,
i have multiple hostings and multiple domains.
i just want 1 master database to serve all my sites.

Are you looking to use the built in multisite feature?

Yes, use multisite.

But I don’t want the other sites as subdomains. I need domains.

I’d like to achieve this:

http://www.domain.com – for everyone
http://www.domain.co.uk – for british
http://www.domain.co.au – for australians

WordPress multisite only allows subdomains

WordPress multisite needs an add on, then it can handle multiply domains. I host several domains on the same installation. You will need this for domain mappings thou

Thanks Jen. Yes I found that plugin.

The only problem is that I want to use the same content for each site, but filtered. This is what I mean:

http://www.domain.com – all the categories
http://www.domain.co.uk – posts under the category http://www.domain.com/uk
http://www.domain.com.au – posts under the category http://www.domain.com/au

then post to each site as a “category” and use sitewide tags to pull them all to the front.

This is currently the only way you will get categories to act like full domains. Any plugin that formerly did this for single WP is long outdated.

That’s the option I got for now, but I’m looking if there’s anyway to set the blogurl on the fly instead of grabbing it from the database.

Do you know how to do this?
