two-level vertical flyout menu

How are you all doing?
hope all is well

I have a question about vertical flyout menu.
It seems that the vertical flyout only word when 3 categories are present. (parent child child)
When you only have 2 categories (parent child) the off-canvas menu is drop down.

I dont know if this is normal but I would like to ask what to change in order for the menu to also fly out whit only 2 categories

In the screenshot you see the parent (shop page) and then 2 categories.
Then the flyout works but you have to click the first menu item for the flyout to come out

I would like to have the menu working without the parent..

I hope I made it clear and if not pls let me know
