If “Load all stores on page load:” is enabled on the settings page, then it will load everything the first time the page loads, ignoring the filter values. Only when a user searches for location x is the distance/radius limit used.
But maybe it’s a good idea to make it an option to either load 100% of the stores and ignore the distance/radius values. Or only load the stores on page load that fall within the distance/radius.
I’m a little bit behind on version 2.0. There are a few big issues I still have to solve. Add WPML support ( maybe it’s easy just haven’t looked into it ), fix the output on the custom post type pages ( the data is there but it’s a bit messy ) and add more shortcode options. And there are several smaller issues that need to be resolved as well.
The way things are going now it will take at least another week of work for 2.0 to be ready, but I just can’t predict whether I can work on it for a whole week without having to deal with clients.
Once 2.0 is ready it will be 3-4 weeks before the premium version is ready. Most of the premium features are ready, I just have to adapt them to the 2.0 code.
You need custom post types for your project? Which features do you need in the premium version?
Ah… that makes sense. A choice in the options would be appreciated, but as I said, I am fine with the current implementation for my particular needs. It was more a curiosity.
As for 2.0 and the premium version, thanks for the feedback. I certainly understand. I am eager to send you some money, but I can wait until you have it ready.
As for the custom post types, yes. I am most looking forward to being able to generate individual pages from the database. I started the process creating pages individually, but it became tedious and there are 150+ locations for my market.
That said, I know that I will want more data per location than I am currently able to put in the records for each location. These are BBQ restaurants in SC. In addition to location info, I want to include several other fields: social media pages, review links (Yelp, Urbanspoon, etc.), types of sauces served, etc. See this link for a sample of the pages I was manually creating.
Not sure if you can provide options for user-created fields like those above, but that would be handy.
Also, not sure if it will be possible/practical to modify the pages created by your plugin to match my design preferences. That would also be helpful, but if I can enter data, output at least skeletons of pages that I can then modify to suit my needs, that would be good enough for me.
Thanks again.
If you can email me at info at tijmensmit.com then I can send you the 2.0 beta once I fixed the template output.
The upgrade from 1.x to 2.0 will convert all the store locations to custom post types, so that should save you some time instead of having to do it manually.
There are some filters that allow you to change the meta data for each location, but I will explain more about that when I email you the beta.
