Two step Authentication like on wordpress.com
-
I’v been interested in 2 step veification for a while, and as wordpess.com released a 2 step authentication for their website in mid 2013, I have been hoping that wordpress would make 2 step authentication part of the multisite core, rather than use a plugin. Does anyone know if WordPress plans on adding this in the near future.
Also the google authenticator plugin was great when I was using a singe install of wordpress, however for a multisite, I wanted one similar on wordpress.com, that has a variety of steps, and backup codes that google authenticator doesn’t offer. With google authenticator a user only has to tick the activate box in their profile, then click save, then there is no way for a user to log in without the authentication code.
I’ve noticed that wordfence and ithemes security offer a paid option for this feature, does anyone also have any suggestions for the best two-step authenticator for multisite.
