Typekit delay in fonts loading

I am using Typekit on a variety of self hosted sites. They all seem to have the same problem – it takes a while for the fonts to load.

The default font in the stack always shows up for a couple of seconds before the CSS for the font loads.

This is unsightly and sometimes breaks my layouts momentarily.
Does anyone else have the same problem?

Is there anything I can do?
