Ugh

I rarely comment on a product, and eschew the idea of commenting only when things get negative, so I must admit that hypocrisy. With that being said, if you build a site around the plug-in with, say, what I have, upwards of 10,000 images, you should be prepared for the unexpected. At this point, I must join the dissenting voices. While I am comfortable troubleshooting problems with my blog, over the past few weeks I have dedicated not just hours, but days, to resolving plug-in issues that seem to be related to this plug-in. It’s a great plug-in, but I simply cannot give it anymore time and energy, and, as of today, cannot recommend it as it is,though I did just upgrade to 2.0.40 and am testing it as we speak. My current issues are as follows:
1. No longer Ajax pagination, as a matter of fact, no more pagination. It lists the subsequent pages in a gallery numerically, but clicking a number does not take the user anywhere. I do have another plugin for nextgen that optionally uses a Google jQuery instead of the WordPress one, and that, when turned on, restores pagination, but not Ajax; however, it also creates other issues so I turned it off (albums are missing from pages that do come in, etc.). And, yes, with that plugin (not nextgen) deactivated, nextgen still does not page for me.
2. When I bring up the Atttach to Post option, the fields are empty. I used it a while back and it was great, but I cannot edit empty space.
3. I used another plugin called scrollgallery with my nextgen galleries and it was great, till, after three days of fussing, I removed it because it kept giving warning to the user. The developer gave me the fix, which worked sometimes, but created way too much work for me with all my galleries and images, so I abandoned that plugin.
The short of it is, I am removing the nextgen plugin and going with something else, expecting my problems to be resolved more expeditiously. Finally, my site is running like a dog. Won’t come in now, as we speak, not sure why, could be server issues, of course. But I have also seen where nextgen users are having this issue.
It’s a great plugin if you never upgrade it. I rolled back five versions yesterday trying to get to what used to work for me, just a few weeks ago. I no longer have the time and energy to do that. Peace.
