Hi @mementocoffee,
Thanks for sharing these details. I can see how concerning it is to notice that the order source or origin is now showing as “unknown” after updating WooCommerce, and I am glad to help clarify this with you.
In many cases, this is not caused by a core WooCommerce issue, but by how referral data and order attribution are being recorded. This can be affected by caching or optimization plugins, security or privacy settings, cookie consent configurations, browser behavior, or external analytics tools.
WooCommerce uses Order Attribution to track where orders come from, and it would be good to first confirm how this is set up on your site. This guide explains how order attribution works and what data is captured: https://woocommerce.com/document/order-attribution-tracking/
Please also check that Order Attribution is enabled in your store settings, as disabling it can result in orders showing an unknown source. You can follow the steps here to confirm it is turned on:
https://woocommerce.com/document/order-attribution-tracking/#section-2In addition, I recommend the following checks:
First, temporarily disable any caching, optimization, or security plugins, then place a test order to see if the source is recorded correctly.Second, confirm whether this happens for all new orders or only for specific traffic sources such as direct visits, social media, or campaigns.
Third, review any recent changes to Google Analytics or cookie consent tools that may prevent attribution data from being passed through.
If the issue continues after these checks, please let us know which caching, analytics, or security plugins are active on your site, and we will be happy to take a closer look with you.
Muchas gracias.
Hi @mementocoffee, I understand you’re preparing to run some tests on your site after the update. Please go ahead with the test, and let us know the results once it’s done so we can assist you further if needed.
Buenas tardes, desafortunadamente la unica forma que tengo de que vuelva a reconocer la fuente del pedido, es haciendo un roll back de woocommerce y volver a la version anterior.
Hi there!
Thank you for the update. I’ve tried to replicate the issue on my test site, and everything is working correctly on my end. The order origin is being recorded as expected. For reference, here’s a screenshot showing the origin recorded correctly:
https://go.screenpal.com/watch/cOnl1in06wSTo help us investigate this further, could you please share your System Status Report? You can find it by going to WooCommerce → Status.
Please copy the report and paste it into https://pastebin.com/ or https://gist.github.com/, then share the link here. Once we have this information, we’ll be able to assist you further.
Buenas tardes,
Hi there,
Thank you for sharing the system status report. I have escalated this issue internally, and we were not able to replicate it on our end. We suspect that there might be a plugin on your site conflicting with the latest version of WooCommerce, which could be causing this issue.
I can see that you are using the Fluid Checkout for WooCommerce plugin, and we’ve seen other users with the same plugin encountering similar issues. For testing purposes, could you please deactivate the Fluid Checkout for WooCommerce plugin, place some test orders, and check if you still face the same issue?
Let us know what you find.
Buenas noches,
Correcto, has dado en el clavo a la primera, era Fluid Checkout for WooCommerce.
Muchas gracias por comprobarlo tan rápido y gracias por la eficiencia.
Hi @mementocoffee,
Great news! We’re really glad to hear you found the cause of the issue, and thank you for confirming that it was related to the Fluid Checkout for WooCommerce plugin. That will definitely help others who might run into the same situation.
