    Hi…

I am getting the following error on 2 of my websites. 3 of them are running Updraftplus with no issues.

Warning: If you can still read these words after the page finishes loading, then there is a JavaScript or jQuery problem in the site.

Cannot click on the “Existing Backups” tab, nothing happens.

When clicking on the “Settings” tab, all of the remote storage options appear as checkboxes, whereas on the sites that the backups are working I get the logos of the storage options.

    I am using Mac OS X 10.11.3
    Running Chrome 48.0.2564.116 (64-bit)
    Running Safari 9.0.3 (11601.4.4)
    Wordpress 4.4.2
Hosting on Amazon Cloud via Wealthy Affiliate

What I have done so far:

Tried to backup the sites in both Chrome and Safari, issues persists
    Re-installed Updraftplus, issues persists
    Re-installed WordPress 4.4.2, issues persists
Disabled all plugins except for Updraftplus, issues persists
Switch theme to Twenty Three, issues persists
Tried to download the last backup log, but nothing happens
Read this blog post multiple times, and tried everything it suggested
Reset the WordPress admin password multiple times, this was just a guess from the credentialtest error I was seeing in the debug console

I enabled the debug console and I am getting the same error on the Settings tab for both of the sites that are not working:

SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier ‘jQuery’. Expected ‘;’ after var declaration.
    (anonymous function)options-general.php:1

    ReferenceError: Can’t find variable: updraft_credentialtest_nonce
    (anonymous function)updraft-admin-ui.js:1691:102
    jload-scripts.php:1:27314
    fireWithload-scripts.php:1:28123
    readyload-scripts.php:1:29967
    Jload-scripts.php:1:30327

Then, the ReferenceError keeps repeating itself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! I have racked my brain doing a stare and compare of the settings/configurations of the sites and do not see what the differences (if any) are.

    Thanks in advance,
    Joe

    Update:

I added 2 more sites today, they are working with the Updraftplus backup with no issues. All of my sites pretty much have the same configuration.

1 of the 2 sites that were NOT backing up is now backing up, that error message has went away and I did not make any changes that I am aware of that would have resolved the issue. Checking the Error Console and there are NO errors where as earlier I was getting those errors above.

The problem still exist on 1 website.

Checking the Error Console and getting the same errors as I was earlier on the 1 problematic website.

SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier ‘jQuery’. Expected ‘;’ after var declaration.
    (anonymous function)options-general.php:1

    ReferenceError: Can’t find variable: updraft_credentialtest_nonce
    (anonymous function)updraft-admin-ui.js:1691:102
    jload-scripts.php:1:27314
    fireWithload-scripts.php:1:28123
    readyload-scripts.php:1:29967
    Jload-scripts.php:1:30327

So, this leads me to believe that it’s not me and/or the Updraftplus plugin and perhaps a network issue and/or an issue with Amazon hosting? Would that be a correct assumption?

What web browser are you using? And – do you get the same if you use a different one?

What component are these files part of?

    jload-scripts.php:1:27314
    fireWithload-scripts.php:1:28123
    readyload-scripts.php:1:29967
    Jload-scripts.php:1:30327

Those aren’t filenames from either UpdraftPlus or WordPress core. What are they from?

I am not sure. Is there a way to tell? I have turned all of the plugins off and switched to the Twenty Three theme and just had the UpdraftPlus turned on. And it still gives those errors I will test it again because I was doing a lot of troubleshooting at once and see if it happens when I turn them all off again.

    Thanks,

After Googling those filenames, I suspect that’s just a copy-paste error – that some spaces have dropped out of your copy-paste.

If you use “View Source” in your browser on the page, what’s at the top of the source?

This issue is very strange. This morning I uninstalled the app from all 7 of my sites. Earlier today I installed the app and now only 1 of the 7 is exhibiting this issue. I noticed that it appears to be only when the remote storage logos do not display. Instead you get empty check boxes.

Can you just share a link to your site?

From this, I guess you have some sort of cacheing issue. The HTML in your screenshot also looks like something is operating on it to compress it – at a guess, that component is probably mis-cacheing things.

    Hi David:

So, I delete the entire site completely and re-installed everything. And now it’s working. So, all 7 sites are backing up. I have no clue what caused it, except for installing and uninstalling plugins. Perhaps there were things left over causing problems.

Thanks for looking into this for me.

    Cheers,
    Joe
