    Hello,
today the “File Manager” (German version “Dateimanger” v 7.2.1 by mndpsingh287) is installed in my WP without me having initiated this installation myself. The programme is not only installed, but also activated. This was the case a few days ago. I first deactivated the programme and then deleted it. Even then, the installation was not carried out by me.
How can this happen? Has someone hacked my WP installation (apart from this strange installation, there are no recognisable anomalies)? Or is this a new distribution method (and if so, how did this program get into my WP without authorisation?)
Deleting is obviously not an option, because it is obviously reinstalled after a few days.
What should I do? Grateful for help …

    One more question:
What are the names of the tables to delete in phpMyAdmin to completely remove the programme? (I can’t find them under “filemanager”, “wp_filemanager” or similar…)
    Thank you

    Hello,
Problem solved: It wasn’t hacking and “File Manager” itself is innocent: The culprit was a support employee of a plugin who had temporary admin access and not only fixed “his” plugin, but also installed an additional plugin …
    Sorry for the confusion.
(My enquiry can be marked as resolved or deleted).
    Thank you.

    Hello @matta-cib,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We appreciate your contact and would like to shed light on this matter for the benefit of other users.

It’s important to note that our team cannot access your website or initiate plugin installations. Only administrators or users with the privilege to install plugins can perform such actions. We’re pleased to hear that you managed to find the root cause of the problem.

The File Manager plugin is versatile, offering features such as enabling debugging and easily editing scripts with the built-in code editor. Thus, using it for support purposes makes sense. 😊

Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or if there’s anything else we can assist you with. We’re here to help.

Wishing you a great rest of 2023!

    Best Wishes,
    WP File Manager Support Team
