• Hi!

I’ve been using this plugin for awhile without significant improvement in site speed. Today I finally started tweaking some of the settings and suddenly my site loads much faster on GTMetrix with performance improvements across a handful of categories. So first, thank you!

The one improvement that continues to elude me is with Expiry headers. No matter what settings I tweak, the results remain at 0%. I use Cloudflare, so I’m wondering if there could be some setting on CF that needs to be tweaked to work optimally with AO? I also don’t see any expiry headers in my .htaccess file.

Another issue I noted is that with AO enabled, I’m getting multiple error codes in my Google Console. Could these be related? The error code is:

autoptimize_3c3310af…e3ab15fc07cc.js:374 Uncaught ReferenceError: cbStickySB is not defined
    at autoptimize_3c3310af…e3ab15fc07cc.js:374
    at dispatch (jquery.js:3)
    at r.handle (jquery.js:3)
    at c (rocket-loader.min.js:1)
    (anonymous) @ autoptimize_3c3310af…e3ab15fc07cc.js:374
    dispatch @ jquery.js:3
    r.handle @ jquery.js:3
    c @ rocket-loader.min.js:1

I’m not a coder so I really have no idea what this means or how to fix it. Please let me know if you have any troubleshooting tips or insight.

    Thanks!

Expire headers are generally set on a webserver level, here’s some info on how to change; https://varvy.com/pagespeed/cache-control.html

re. cbStickyhB; don’t see that error (on the homepage), could be specific to logged in users or maybe I have to check a specific page?

    Thanks for your response.

I’m a bit confused. I thought that the AO plugin was supposed to add expires headers. Is that not correct?

re: cbStickyhB You’re right! The issue has been resolved. I have no idea what fixed it, but I kept tweaking settings in the plugin and now the error is gone.

AO does add expiry headers (or at least tries to do so) for it’s own files (by adding a configuration file that can be picked up by Apache; wp-content/cache/autoptimize/.htaccess) , but does not change expiry for non-autoptimized resources.

Ahhh, ok. I *think* I understand. I’ll follow that link you sent and see if I can add the headers via the server. Thanks.
