    Hi,

We’re really sorry to hear this happened.

This issue was identified in version 5.2, where some servers without the PHP function cal_days_in_month() experienced a fatal error during update. The good news is that this has been fully resolved in BackWPup version 5.2.1, released just recently.

Please update to version 5.2.1, which restores compatibility and should resolve the crash. If you’re still in recovery mode:

    • You can log into WordPress Recovery Mode (via the link WordPress sent).
    • Navigate to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
    • Update BackWPup to 5.2.1 from there.
    • Then exit recovery mode once the update completes.

Let us know if you continue facing any issues—we’re here to help.

    Best regards,
    The BackWPup Team

I’m facing the same issue with wpbackup 5.2.1 and WordPress 6.8.1 . Why is this issue marked as resolved? What is the solution?
