• If I could set 0 stars, I absolutely would. This has been the worst management of a highly regarded, relatively simple, entirely open-source (and free) software.

ww.wp.xz.cn states “Don’t upload other people’s premium code” but there is no protection for the reverse of the situation. This open source code was essentially lifted, the name was changed, and now it is passed off as premium after the features that made it so desirable have been pay-walled.
If any one of us wanted to fork the non-premium versions prior to the author change, maintain and re-upload it, we would probably be met with banishment from the platform or other BS.

I understand wanting income for your time, certainly in today’s economic straights. Lifting open source, free software, and making it paid is not the way to do that. Offer a paid support service, sure. Offer a paid on-demand patch or dev service, sure. Put in a “buy me a drink link” even. Just don’t paywall a freely available feature. [redacted]

[redacted] Trust is already hard to come by, and WP White Security will not be getting any trust (or money) of mine after this.

    Hello @wwwebwizard

Thank you for taking the time to review.

While we understand your frustration, the features that are now available in the premium edition have always been a premium feature. This is supported by all of the plugin’s literature and documentation. A bug ‘leaked’ those features to the free edition and the previous plugin owner never addressed it. We have now rectified the issue.

Also, we have highlighted this change on all the plugin’s documentation, including the release notes and the change log, so users can read about the change before upgrading.

We also understand that this can have a negative impact on your operations. To this end we are offering a 3-month unlimited license, giving everyone enough time to decide which plugin is the right choice for them. You can request yours by submitting this form.

We look forward to hearing from you. And thank you for your support.
