• Hi guys my site was fine for ages but suddenly has been getting a very frustrating error. Every so often the site goes down and gives the following error:

This site can’t be reached www.nitryl.co.uk unexpectedly closed the connection.

    ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED

Looking at my hosting the resource manager in cpanel is saying the following:

CPU resources limit was reached for your site
I/O usage resources limit was reached for your site

What would have caused the error happening suddenly? It appears to happen most of the time when trying to work within the wp admin.Because of this it’s quite hard to try and fix things and to add a caching plugin because it just keeps crashing mid processes.

The site’s plugins are set to auto update so I’m assuming this could be the issue. Could it also be fixed by increasing some stats in the config files? Any help with how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  • I recommend, please contact hosting support and discuss the issues, they can provide valid information about the server and what is used too much on it.

I have contacted the hosting and they just point me to the resource manager and tell me to work it out within wordpress.

GoDaddy should know better than that. ” Every so often the site goes down” usually means there’s a resource issue on the server. If WP were broken, it would be broken all the time.

In addition, check your traffic as well if there is an attack or bot crawler using your site resources.

Thank you, so you think this is a server side error rather than a wordpress error?

    I do.

If this was a wordpress error what steps should I take to fix the issues? I’ve deactivated the two plugins that were updated around the same time the site started playing up.

I’ve installed the server health check and these are the details below. The error seems to occur when trying to use the backend wp admin panel and uploading files.

These details are when the site is apparently up and working.

Can you upload any files at all?

    Thread Starter HideTheGarlic

    (@hidethegarlic)

I just pressed to upload a file to the media library and got the error again so I’m assuming no. The site has around 6,000 photographs. Could that be an issue?

The site also seems to got through a cycle where once it crashes after a while it will come back without any interference. All the site crashes are happening in the wp admin.

You could be running out of disk space on the server or over a quota set by your hosting. Check with hosting support about this.

They have suggested this and have had the following on the resource manager on cpanel.

CPU resources limit was reached for your site
I/O usage resources limit was reached for your site

Could this be as simple as having too many images on the site? Or a plugin taking a lot of the memory. From what I remember the site updated a few plugins around the time of the error, but I didn’t do anything else to the site at that point. I deactivated both plugins that were updated around this time and that hasn’t seemed to make a difference. Could the PHP version or memory limits be a factor? Or something in the wp config? Thanks for your help.

Are you on an extremely limited (i.e., cheap) hosting plan?

I shouldn’t be I am with 123reg on the ultimate shared hosting package with the following specs:

    Unlimited Websites
    Unlimited Storage
    Unlimited bandwidth
    Unlimited x 1GB MySQL Databases
    2 CPU
    2GB RAM (shared)
    One-click Linux apps
    Unlimited Autoresponders
    Unlimited Email Forwarders
    Catch-All Emails
    Programming languages
    SSH Access
    Protected Directories
    Cron Jobs

As 123reg have removed live chat for some reason it is incredibly hard to get any immediate help from them through their ticketing system.
