I’ve uninstalled the original plugin “Limit Login Attempts” and I see no sign of it in the wp-plugins folder, yet it continues to run in the background and retain the Limit Login Attempts page in the Settings section of the Dashboard. I do not see any tables in the database. Is this RANSOMWARE? How can it be completely removed?

Most likely it is uploaded into your mu-plugins folder, you need to remove it from there.

    Thank you for your help.

Hi – I have the same problem and confirmed the limit-login-attempts-reloaded plugin is listed under the path mu-plugins>gd-system-plugin>plugins folder, but there is no way I can delete this folder. I can’t even change the permissions to allow to delete the folder.
