• It appears that my WP site has been compromised. I need to delete everything and start from scratch.

My WP blog was installed using fantastico.

My question is – if I uninstall my WP blog using fantastico…

    1) Will it delete my WP user account (I want it to delete the dbase/files, but I want to keep my account and blog name etc) ?

    2) Will I then be able to re-install WP via fantastico using the same details (ie. using the same blog name, username etc etc) ?

I would like to be able to uninstall and re-install using fantastico to get back to the same place – but I would like to know if it will work before I do it (ie. will it fall over when I re-install, thinking the blog etc already exists ?)

  • 1. You don’t have a WordPress user account as such. You can set your blog name back up again when you reinstall.

    2. In theory, yes.

    So,just to clarify….

I can uninstall my WP blog using fantastico uninstall (this will delete all my posts, database, wp-core files, themes etc etc), and then re-install WP with fantastico – and when I re-install, it will create a new database and wp-core files etc etc and I can still use the same blog name and WP username as the original (then I can go in and start re-building everything again) ?

From what I can recall (it’s been a while since I used a Fantastico 1-click install), yes, yes and yes. 🙂
