Since I updated to 5.0 (now on 5.0.1) WordFence has been randomly blocking users and administrators across many of my sites. Using the administrator reset function sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t. With some sites I’ve been forced to use the “Disable WordFence” option from that administrator email. Is this just me, or is this a known issue?

    Hi @mishakessler

Wordfence has been throughly testes with WordPress 5.0, and we also aren’t receiving similar reports to this.

    There are several possibilities:

    1) You have set your wordfence settings too strictly and people are being correctly blocked based on your settings. If it is a Wordfence block page being seen then a reason will be given for the block that Wordfence generated. Make sure you aren’t seeing a block page generated by your hosting server or another security plugin. You can also see reasons for blocks in the Live Traffic tool page. What Wordfence block reason or reasons has been seen please?

    2) You have a caching plugin that is incorrectly caching block pages and serving cached block pages when it shouldn’t be doing that. If the timestamps at the bottom of the block page don’t match when taking into consideration your time zone then that indicates a caching problem.

When you said, “Using the administrator reset function sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t.” – can you describe in detail exactly what you did.

    Thanks.
