Unstack – Older / Newer Post Button –

How to I spread out the “Older posts” and “Newer posts” buttons at the bottom of the blog page? It is currently stacked vertically and I want it to be spaced out.

If if can not be spaced out, I at least want the black background removed, so it does not look cluttered. There needs to be space around the buttons.

Is there a code to have the button spread out horizontally and NOT stacked vertically?
