When you open a link, if it is possible to choose, open the map in Google Map app, not the browser.
unfortunately, I am not presented with any option to choose how I open the map. It simply tries to open it in a different tab.

Here’s what really seems to be happening, at least on my mobile. When I click the zoom (+) magnifying glass it tries to open the link in Google Maps, not a second browser window as I indicated earlier. It fails and says “Unsupported link. Google maps can’t open this link”. However, if I copy the link and paste it in a new browser window it works correctly. Or if I select “open in new tab” it works as well. So it seems to work good in another browser window but fails in Google Maps.

It is possible that this is happening only on your device, or specific devices, please try on another mobile device.
It happened on other devices this weekend. It happened on my Galaxy Tab3 and ipad…but again…only if using the Google Maps app., it works okay if it’s opened in a browser tab.
